This week's Ruby and Rails news[Read this e-mail on the Web](http://rubyweekly.com/issues/343)

Ruby WeeklyIssue 343 — April 6, 2017

It's with great sadness I dedicate this issue to [Jason Seifer](https://twitter.com/jseifer), a popular member of the Ruby community who [died last weekend.](http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-lake-ivanhoe-suspected-drowning-20170401-story.html) You may have known him as a Ruby trainer, [as DJ Ango](https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PLfBoZfyUGYQZ--h9B4e_tmyob8tbqOTKd&v=Zb1YVZWt0OE), from his famed 2007 'Rails vs' videos, or from the many podcasts he did. He'll be missed.

Jack Singleton[One Line of Code That Could Be Compromising Your App](https://martinfowler.com/articles/session-secret.html)An in-depth look at the vulnerabilities thrown up by _session secrets_ and how easy bad session secrets are to crack. Noah Gibbs[Benchmarking Running Multiple Puma Processes](http://engineering.appfolio.com/appfolio-engineering/2017/3/22/rails-benchmarking-puma-and-multiprocess)Noah continues his series on Rails benchmarking, this time increasing the number of processes. Turns out, more than one makes a lot of sense for big performance gains.
