[Turbo 8 in 8 Minutes](https://fly.io/ruby-dispatch/turbo-8-in-8-minutes/) — Turbo 8 with its auto-updating, page-morphing refresh capabilities is currently all the rage in Rails land. This post shows how easy it is to make it work for whole pages, objects, or collections. Is Brad a fan? _“Turbo 8 is amazing. I haven’t been this excited about web development since Rails first hit the scene.”_ I’d say so.

[Rage: An HTTP API Framework Compatible with Rails](https://github.com/rage-rb/rage) — There are plenty of ‘alternative’ Ruby webapp or HTTP API frameworks or libraries (think Sinatra, Roda, Grape, or Hanami, to start) with compelling features, but ‘Rails compatibility’ is a new one to us. The difference, however, is a specific focus on performance, acting as a backend API _only_, and running every request in a separate fiber.

- ⚡️ Ruby has been getting a lot of attention on [Reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/1861i5r/the_shopify_ruby_on_rails_distributed_monolith/), [Hacker News](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38455007), and Twitter this week after Shopify's Tobi Lutke shared that Shopify's Rails-based app [handled over 60 million requests per minute](https://twitter.com/tobi/status/1728524453854756883) at one point over the Black Friday shopping period – [more juicy numbers here.](https://twitter.com/ShopifyEng/status/1729500623773573265) Millions of dollars of infrastructure and hundreds of engineers make this magic happen, of course.
- 🎂 Did you know [Sass](https://sass-lang.com/), the highly influential CSS preprocessor, was created by Rubyist Hampton Lintorn-Catlin? It just turned 17 years old – here's [the first commit from 2006.](https://github.com/sass/sass/commit/fa5048ba405619273e474a50400c7243fbff54fe?fbclid=IwAR0sh5j2gTbWS0pPo2qOLxgUeilw6vx3fkIS9PIZJ48MwxifBkl_brdPvkg)
- ⬆️ Vercel is perhaps best known for its work with Next.js, but you can deploy Ruby apps to their platform too: [they now offer Ruby 3.2](https://vercel.com/changelog/upgrading-ruby-v2-7-to-v3-2) as their default Ruby runtime.
