[Ruby 3.4.0 Preview 2 Released](https://www.ruby-lang.org/en/news/2024/10/07/ruby-3-4-0-preview2-released/) — The preview releases leading up to final Christmas Day Ruby releases don’t tend to throw up many changes, but this is an exception. A significant change is that [Ruby’s default parser has been changed to Prism](https://bugs.ruby-lang.org/issues/20564), so it’s absolutely worth testing your code against it now. You can also now [use `it` as a default block parameter](https://bugs.ruby-lang.org/issues/18980), amongst other minor syntax tweaks.

There was no fire, alas, but they covered a lot about Ruby and Rails history, community, and design philosophies.
