▶[The RubyKaigi 2025 YouTube Playlist](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbFmgWm555yYE_j4F1onI1NA2RQFyyLPL#rubykaigi2025) — Ruby's 'home' conference, [RubyKaigi](https://rubykaigi.org/2025/), is an important entry in the Ruby event calendar. 2025's event took place last month featuring a keynote from Matz and talks from Tenderlove, Koichi Sasada, and many others. There are 57 talks (in English and Japanese) so you’re sure to find something interesting, but I'll link a few highlights below.

RubyKaigi 2025

**A FEW RUBYKAIGI TALKS:**

- [Matz's keynote](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeuYishyqo8&list=PLbFmgWm555yYE_j4F1onI1NA2RQFyyLPL&index=7) is in Japanese, though you can turn on subtitles. It's a high level talk covering thoughts on AI and static typing, and Matz teases Ruby 4.0 again with a _"maybe"_.
- Takashi Kokubun gave [a talk, in English, about YJIT](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvK86pmU-Oc), focusing on deoptimization.
- Staying on the JIT theme, Maxime Chevalier-Boisvert [spoke about ZJIT](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CCDuRW0OLk), a newer attempt at creating a Ruby JIT that was [recently merged into Ruby.](https://railsatscale.com/2025-05-14-merge-zjit/)
- I also found talks on [running Ruby in WebAssembly](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuFm7F4ocNw), [modular garbage collectors](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04axm4JcaT4) ([related article](https://railsatscale.com/2025-01-08-new-for-ruby-3-4-modular-garbage-collectors-and-mmtk/)), [inline RBS comments](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4YjoEgpmXs), and [Ruby debugging](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynrXsbuApXM) to be valuable. We'll link to more talks in future as I get through them. [![\](https://res.cloudinary.com/cpress/image/upload/c_limit,w_480,h_480,q_auto/copm/58300139.png)](https://go.fastruby.io/pqm)

[A Series on `Enumerable`’s Loveliness](https://andycroll.com/ruby/cassidoo-odd_sum-programming-exercise/) — A celebration of the _lovely_ expressiveness of Ruby’s `Enumerable` methods for solving problems. He then ran [two rounds](https://andycroll.com/ruby/benchmarking-odd_sum/) of [benchmarks](https://andycroll.com/ruby/further-options-odd_sum-with-benchmarking/), concluding that writing expressive, readable Ruby first is a good idea, but it never hurts to benchmark and tune afterwards.

💡 As an aside, it's often worth a browse [through Enumerable's methods](https://ruby-doc.org/3.4.1/Enumerable.html) – I'm always reminded of something useful that I forgot (or even a new addition).
